Geek Chic

Hey everyone!

I'm in such a great mood today-the top I ordered from boohoo.com just arrived and tomorrow is the last day of college!!:D This is my first time posting an outfit-on-me post so I hope you like it!

This top is from boohoo.com and it was only €12! I love all of those 'geek' 'dweeb' tops that are in at the moment! I got this skirt in American Apparel-it's their denim circle skirt and it's the lightest shade they offer. Love it! I know some people say you should size up with these skirts because they're quite small fitting but I just stuck with my usual size and it fits fine! I got this bag in Accessorize (it's shown in a few of my other posts) and the ring is from Pennys. What do you guys think? I was feeling a bit geeky today (I think it's the geek top) so I wore some thick rimmed glasses (fashion purposes only-I don't wear glasses!) and my new Rimmel nail polish! Feeling very funky-what are you guys wearing?

Hand chains!

Hello lovelies :)

I hope everyone is feeling festive! I'm so excited for Christmas! I have my Kris Kindle dinner with my friends tomorrow evening-lots of food (we make the starters/mains/desserts ourselves and host it in someone's house), wine and presents :D Do you guys do a Kris Kindle with your friends or families? It's lots of fun-highly recommended!

Now to the fun stuff. I recently purchased a hand chain-for those of you who are currently like 'eh what?' let me explain! It is a cross between a bracelet and a ring-a mini chain wraps around your finger and this is in turn connected to another chain that clips around your wrist. They are so dainty and just so cute!! This one is from Miss Selfridge and I managed to get it for only €6.50 as it was half price! I love bargains! The only problem with these type of bracelets is that they aren't adjustable and I have miniature wrists. Never fear, my dad came to the rescue with some pliers and we managed to take five links out of the wrist strap so that it now fits perfectly with just a little bit of hang! For anyone else with small wrists I'd definitely advise doing a bit of DIY on your bracelet so that you don't lose it on a night out!

Hand chain-Miss Selfridge

I decided to use this photo op as an excuse to try out my new nail polish-it's called 'hot and spicy' and it's by Rimmel London-what do you guys think?! I love it and it goes on so easily and dries within minutes! Even the dodgy left hand went well-c'mon girls you understand me here, always a NIGHTMARE!!

So what's the verdict on hand chains? I love them, they're very old-worldy or something <3

Drop me a comment and let me know what you think :)

Oh and here are a two pretty hand chains from Topshop and New Look for some inspiration!

Love Galaxy Print!

Hey there lovelies :)

Hopefully everyone is having a great Tuesday! Can't believe this day next week is Christmas Day-sooo excited! What's on your Christmas list?? I'm hoping for a new tripod for my camera so that I can shoot lots of new videos and tutorials for you guys :)

Right now I'm absolutely LOVING galaxy print! I know I said I was going to put up a video tutorial soon (I will!) but I'm trying to get some last minute submissions in before college closes for Christmas so unfortunately it'll have to wait. Never fear though, I still have a galaxy print inspired look. This particular t-shirt was a great buy from H&M and it only cost me €15.95! Bargain!! I love the tie at the front but I think I'll probably end up wearing it tucked into high waisted skirts. This green velvet skirt is from American Apparel and I love it-it's so festive! Velvet is EVERYWHERE at the moment-totally lusting after a velvet bodysuit! Have you seen any nice ones? The only thing I can say about these skirts is that they're quite a big fit-I had to go for the xs because the small seemed to bunch at the waistband at the back-not a good look! I bought this necklace in Pennys for, wait for it, €3!!! Couldn't believe how cheap it was-it looks good though right?! These shoes are the ones I already posted about-they're from Express. I love patent leather :)

What do you guys think of this look? Do you like galaxy print? Actually, if you have any special requests for some DIY fashion tutorials drop me a comment below and I'll see what I can do! Always looking for new projects!

Oh, I meant to include a close-up of this bag from my first post-it's from River Island and it's got such a funky print! What do you think?

Heritage Look

Good afternoon everyone!

I'm taking a mini break from writing my essay (snore fest) by posting about one of my absolute favourite looks! I love geek chic-especially shirts with heritage-inspired crests! This particular shirt is from Tommy Hilfiger and it cost me about $65 or so. I'm completely obsessed with it. It was a bit steep in price but I bought it during the summer when I was on hols so I had some spare cash to blow! What do you guys think? I've paired it with this metallic gold fake leather pleated skirt from Oasis and a funky necklace from New Look.

White heritage shirt-Tommy Hilfiger, Gold pleated skirt-Oasis, Leather loafers-Topshop, Brown bucket bag-Accessorize, Gold spike necklace-New Look

The skirt was a steal at just €16! (reduced from €60!!) New Look are also having a promotion at the moment where all jewellery is buy one get one free-fabulous! I love these kind of necklaces, they really dress up an outfit. The shoes are my trusty leather loafers from Topshop (€69) and the bag was a spur of the moment purchase from Accessorize. I love this look! I was initially wary about the metallic gold skirt from Oasis because I think it could end up looking a bit tacky if it was accessorized in the wrong way. I'd like to think I did a good job of steering away from that look here?!

Let me know what you guys think of this look. Would you wear it? How else would you style this skirt?

Favourite Makeup!

Hey there!

So I thought I'd shake it up a little bit and throw in a makeup post for fun! I absolutely love makeup-you always feel so much better and brighter when you're confident in your appearance and I think that makeup really builds on that confidence!

So these are some of my favourite products! Benefit BadGal mascara is honestly the best mascara I have ever tried! I used to use Dior Show until I discovered this gem and I have never looked back. The wand is fantastic, you never get any clumps and best of all it makes it look as if you're already wearing falsies! Brilliant. Mac's Studio Fix foundation is also a great purchase-be wary, however, if you have dry skin as it can be quite drying even with lashings of moisturiser and primer before application! As I am quite pale I use NC20 but if you're not sure of your colour then just ask at the Mac counter and they will be more than happy to help you out!

Mac Studio Fix Foundation-NC20

I am a huge fan of nail polish, I feel naked without it! These are just some of my current obsessions:

From left to right: NYC In a Minute Quick Dry-296 Water Street Blue, Rimmel Lasting Finish-239 Your Majesty, Max Factor Max Effect-Lollipop, Nails Inc-Victoria, NYC Long Wearing Nail Enamel-112 Times Square, Rimmel Lasting Finish-700 Block Your Green.

Absolutely love these colors-especially the purpley/burgundy colour in the middle! It's by Nails Inc and I think it was about €10 so it wasn't too expensive! However, for some more affordable options I also love Rimmel! These two nail polishes (shown below) are my favourite colours for Winter 2012. The green nail polish only cost me €4.65 in Boots! An absolute steal! The silver sparkly nail polish is also perfect for the festive season-so Christmassy :)

I almost forgot to mention my Benefit Hoola bronzer-it's fantastic! It's just the right shade for a natural-looking tan and unlike some of the other bronzers on the market it doesn't contain any of that silly glitter! Can't stand when bronzers and tans have glitter in them (L'oreal Sublime Bronze Tanning Gel I'm looking at you here!!)-no one over the age of 11 wants their skin to sparkle like that!! The bronzer itself is a little bit more expensive then the bronzers you could pick up in Boots (it is about €28/€30 or so depending where you buy it!) but it is so worth it! If you haven't checked it out yet (try one of the samples at the Benefit counter in Debenhams or BT2) you really should! You won't look back :)

What kind of makeup do you guys use? Do you have any trusted favourites? I'm looking to try out some new powders for over foundation-any suggestions? Drop me a comment below :)

Peplum Tops

Hey dolls :)

So I'm a bit undecided on peplum tops-love or hate? I think they can look good so long as they are paired with something tight on the bottom half of your body (i.e. a bodycon skirt or some skinny jeans) as anything else just makes you look a bit 'hippy'. By hippy I mean wider than you actually are and not some peace-loving, all-is-wrong-in-the-world kind of gal! What do you guys think about them?

I recently picked this top up in Pennys for €11 but I haven't worn it out yet as I'm still unsure about the trend. This particular peplum top is a bit different as it has a collar (you've probably noticed I love collars on clothes) so I thought it was a bit unusual and therefore quite funky! I styled it with this black bodycon skirt, super high black wedges and a pale pink feathered bag-what do you think? Does it work?

Loving Leather

Evening all!

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend :)

While I'm working on my tutorial video for the studded shirt (these things take ages!) I thought it would be nice to share some more of my favourite outfits with you. Right now I'm absolutely loving leather! These two looks feature my two favourite leather (fake!) skirts-both are teamed with a funky top and some cute slipper style shoes. This pleated skirt is from Pennys but I actually bought it last year and it is no longer available :( Never fear, Oasis are selling a similar style at the moment for anyone that is interested! I'll post a link to it below :) The polka-dot burgundy shirt with the lace ribbon is from River Island and I think it is so cute! It reminds me of something you would dress a doll in! Burgundy is definitely one of my favourite colours-espeically around Christmas. These shoes are from the American shop Express and they were an absolute steal at just $7!! They were supposed to be $40 so obviously I was delighted with the discount! I love patent things-even if they are very difficult to keep scuff-free. What do you guys think of this look? I'm always wary of wearing black because I'm quite pale but I find as long as I keep it away from my face it's all good! :)

These are the shoes close up-I love them!!

Patent slipper shoes-Express
This other outfit is based around a fake leather (kind of a wet look) skater skirt that I bought in River Island for €22. These skirts are quite big fitting as they are supposed to sit on your waist so even the size 8 felt a bit big after washing but since I nearly always tuck tops into skirts it's actually fine! The green chiffon top is also from an American shop called Charlotte Russe (Google some of their stuff-some of it is a bit tacky but you can find real gems!)-it's a little bit like a mash up of New Look and Forever 21. When I bought this top during the summer (sadly they don't deliver to Ireland-weep!) it was half price so it only cost me about $15! I love the gold sequined Peter pan collar and I just knew they'd be back in again for Autumn. It's quite see through so I normally wear it with a black bandeau bra underneath as I think they're a bit more presentable than regular bras when it comes to tops like this! What do you guys think? The slipper shoes are from Forever 21 and when I saw them I knew I had to buy them because of the gold studs! I absolutely love this look, I think it's so effortlessly cool and chic and you could always throw on some heels, ditch the tights (essential for Irish weather!!!) and wear it on a night out!

What kind of looks are you guys into at the moment? How do you feel about Peter pan collars and buttoned up shirts? I'd love to hear your feedback :)

Oh I almost forgot to include the Oasis skirt:

This black fake leather skirt is from Oasis and it is retailing for €56-they offer 10% student discount though! Here is the link to it: http://www.oasis-stores.com///oasis/fcp-product/4850000201#EUR

A hint of what's to come!

Hello all!

So this is a taster of what I will be showing you to make on my first how-to video! This simple shirt is from Pennys (Primark in the UK) and it cost just €10!! I have already used this shirt without the studs in a recent outfit post (college looks) but I thought that it would be cool to add some studs to the collar for an instant wardrobe update! It's really simple to do so stay tuned for the tutorial!

Saturday night outfit!

So glad it's finally the weekend!!

This is an outfit that I wore for a 21st last weekend-a black playsuit from River Island (€45), super high wedges from Korkys (€40) and a glittery sequin bag from Pennys (€10). The gold studded belt came with the playsuit but I've used it on so many other outfits as it's detachable. I love this look! Effortlessly glamourous. What do you guys think?

When I got to the party I realised that I spend farrr too much time with my friend! Similar outfits! This is how the playsuit looks on:

Some cute college outfits!

Hey Guys!

I know that it's almost the Christmas holidays (yippee!!) but I thought I'd share some of my favourite college looks with you. I absolutely love this first outfit-a simple white shirt looks great with almost anything! I bought this one in Pennys for €10 but I plan to stud the collar with some gold studs that I picked up in a haberdashery shop in town (I'll have a step-by-step tutorial one how to do this soon!) Adding studs to something is a great way to liven up an outfit and anyway what's the point spending a fortune on a studded shirt when you can make one yourself! Cheap and cheerful :) The gold spike necklace is from New Look and it was only €9! They have some great deals on there at the moment-all jewellery is buy one get one free! I also bought a hand chain (well technically it was free) because I think they are so effortlessly pretty and they also really complete an outfit (I'll post a pic soon!).

Black velvet skater skirt-River Island, White satin shirt-Pennys, Gold spike necklace-New Look, Brown leather loafers-Topshop, Brown bucket bag-Accessorize

This black velvet skater skirt is from River Island and it's definitely one of my favourite Winter pieces! Velvet has been all over the catwalks this season and this skirt would be ideal with a chunky knit for a casual laid-back look. You could also dress this up for a night out (I recently wore it with a white crop top from Topshop and some black wedges) as it's very versatile and at €22 how could you say no! The brown bucket bag is from Accessorize and I am absolutely obsessed with it!! It comes with a detachable strap so you can wear it over your shoulder or in the nook of your arm depending on your mood and how heavy your books are! These brown leather loafers are from Topshop and although they were €69 (I am a poor student!) I wear them religiously so they were a great investment.

Bucket bag-Accessorize
I also love this look! A denim circle skirt from American Apparel paired with a white collared vest from Topshop and a chunky studded burgundy jumper from New Look-LOVE IT! What do you think? You can also see the long strap I was talking about in the pic below :)

Burgundy studded jumper-New Look, Denim circle skirt-American Apparel, White lace collared vest-Topshop

What do you guys wear to college? Are you more of a fall-out-of-bed-throw-on-whats-on-my-floor kind of girl or do you put some thought into your outfits? My college is full of fashion-forward people so most days you have to make an effort! I'm not really a tracksuit bottoms kind of gal anyway! I'd love to know what you guys think of this look so drop me a comment :)

New Bags!

Hey there!

Clockwise from left: Feathered bag-Pennys, Sequined bag-Pennys, Multicoloured bag-River Island, Gold glittery bag-River Island, Black and white aztec print bag-Pennys.
Since this is my first post on my new blog I thought I'd start off pretty simple and introduce you to some of my new purchases. I absolutely love clutch bags! I have so many but I can never resist picking up a new one when I'm out shopping. Right now I'm all about statement pieces-the louder and brighter the better! My absolute favourite is the pale pink feathered bag (above!) as it really spices up an otherwise boring outfit. Pear it with a simple black bodycon dress and some sky-high heels and you're ready for a big night out! It was a steal at just €9!! Pennys (this is the Irish version of Primark) is great for bargains! The black and white aztec print clutch is my trusty go-to! It seems to go with just about every outfit I own! I also bought this in Pennys for just €4-bargain bins! The gold metallic bag is from River Island and although it cost €25 I plan to get a lot of wear out of it during the festive season (ho ho ho!).

Now I know people find clutch bags a bit of a nuisance on a night out (how do you push the crazy guy away when you're juggling a mojito in one hand and an expensive bag in the other?!) but I think they look so much nicer than a simple over-your-shoulder bag. There's something much classier and sophisticated about a nice clutch. Obviously I wouldn't be bringing a Marc Jacobs clutch out to a Dublin nightclub with me but my trusty Pennys favourites are certainly up to the challenge!

What do you guys think about clutch bags? Would you wear them on a night out or do you find them a bit impractical and find their potential to get lost a bit daunting? I'd love to hear your feedback and your current fashions obsessions :)
